What are your favourite kinds of shops?

General

I would say, over the years, it a was record/CD shop, particularly second-hand ones [in Tokyo, most memorably].

When I think of the UK, I often think of shops that sell gourmet sausages and pies/pasties.

Here I most enjoy cloth shops where I buy what I need to get shirts made [I haven't worn an off-the-peg shirt for maybe 25 years]. It's 1.75 metres for trousers and 2.5 metres for a shirt [batik].

Second-hand book shops. No contest.

You know, I've been thinking about just that all day, although, I might be inclined to opt for Foyles in London if it still exists like it once was.

I think it is still in Charing Cross. I bought books there many years ago, among others Agatha Christie's autobiography, published in 1977. The pages, 551, are all yellow, it's very well kept by me. "The best thing she's ever written." (Woman's Own).
