i think it could be o.k. depending on the quality of the people. the net tends to have to many big tough dudes, pushy women and naughty children (like mouldy crow) as one has the ability to hide from the responsibility of actions. there is a bigger space between relationships than in the real world, yet the real world and net are sure to get closer as time goes on.
Frankly, I think the online community has brought the world much closer to people that otherwise would have difficulty reaching out, but it comes at a high cost, especially for children. The seem to have difficulty dealing face to face with their peers and makes them more sedentary, helping to contribute to the juvenile obesity crisis.
