Regretably, I have never been owned by an Akita, but they are poular show-dogs, originating in Japan and named for the prefecture of Akita in northern Honshu. I believe they were bred for hunting and are alert, intelligent and quick learners.
I am able to recognise many breeds of dogs, but Chows have purloined and locked away my ability to learn very much about them. 🙂
The only chow that I was ever acquainted with was named Teddy. But as children we were warned to never try to pet him. He had a purplish black tongue that fascinated me. I am a cat person, myself. And in all the years I had never had a tabby until recently. They are very different from other cats in some ways. They prefer lying on their backs and can do all sorts of gymnastics. We use an old drying rack in the winter. The tabby we lost in July (car victim) used to walk along the empty dowels like a tightrope walker. He would do flips and spins from rung to rung and I often had to rescue him. We have had his double for three months now. He acts nearly identical to him in everything, but has his own little tricks besides.

Calendars is the topic. I have to use many! Luckily we get about six of them from charities. I have one just to record the temperature and weather, one with a pocket for paid bills for each month, one for appointments, and a desk appointment calendar for my piano students. Then there are the pocket calendars that fit in my purse, and another calendar at church by my piano so I can jot down special days. One pocket calendar is for dates of performances by the singing group I accompany, and one is for clinic appointments. Did I leave out anything? My favorite calendars are from Current, Inc. They have dogs, cats, horses, scenery.....and thick paper besides being very large, so you can write a lot on them. But, they take up too much space on my wall.
