@lemondrop saidHe/she should be made to play with the black pieces, then he/she would see that all pieces are equal.

Sorry, that was flippant and a bit obvious. An unfortunate result of allowing freedom of thought and speech is that there will always be people with unfortunate attitudes and philosophies. They walk amongst us. I daresay that if the bloke who was sent to put out the fire if ones' house was burning down was a Nazi sympathizer, one would wish him to put the fire out anyway. We must live with them, unfortunately, and try to live good lives ourselves.

@lemondrop saidPeople who hold certain political opinions, particularly racist opinions, Should be barred from holding certain jobs, or removed from those jobs if they already hold those jobs. Examples include policeman and judges, and those involved in law-enforcement generally. The reason why is so obvious it should not have to be stated. However, for other reasons which are so obvious they should not have to be stated, We cannot prevent people who hold such opinions from holding other jobs and even positions within the state, including legislators. It is an extraordinarily difficult balancing act between social justice on the one hand, and individual liberty on the other.

Since a chess player is generally not in a position to inflict grave injustice upon people on account of his racist views, I see no reason to bar him from playing in international competitions or strip him of any title he might achieve. On the other hand, I could well understand players who would refuse to play against him.
@moonbus saidFisher just lost it, went a little mental in the end.
Fischer too held some pretty unsavory political views.

@Very-Rusty
It's not unheard of for chess geniuses to lose it. Paul Morphy for one. I remember reading some GM lost it, went on a public bus nude. I don't remember who though.
@gambrel saidWell maybe you have to be a bit 'out there' to be a chess genius. I'm glad I'm just an ordinary chess player with no hint of genius, that way at least I get to keep my clothes on whilst riding an omnibus.
