seriously, can you drink your tap water? I read an account of a friend travelling
through Russia, on occasion, his tap water was various pastel shades, mostly peach.

Yes, and it doesn't even taste of chlorine 🙂

It's just as good as the bottled stuff, and it doesn't taste of plastic either.

ok, do you need to filter it? or just drink it as it comes?

very good, is your water soft or hard, meaning does it have a low or high mineral content?

It's hard water (a lot of CaSO4), so mineral rich, Sodium is low however which counts as good.

Ok, very good, have you ever measured the, TDS, total dissolved solids ? It usualy comes as a reading, parts per millionth? ppm

Total mineral content is about 280 mg/l which under us friends relates to 0.28 g/kg or 280 ppm.

Most of this is by Ca then Mg then K then Na.
Anions: SO4, co3, sum of halogens.

Heavy metals at or below level of detection (exception iron, which is no problem). Nitrate low to very low (<0.1 mg/l) organics very low, halogenated oragnisc at or below level of detection.

excellent, my tap water ranges from about 24ppm to about 36 ppm, its very soft 🙂 I
am not sure which minerals or heavy metals etc make up this

Our water authority is very proud of its water quality, no chlorine taste, no chemical taste although it's very lightly fluoridated. It helps that our fast-flowing river's catchment area is unpopulated either by humans or animals, as it is dense forest on steep mountain slopes. No metal content, and no filter or softening chemicals needed. Water is very soft with little or no mineral content of any kind, and a high level of dissolved oxygen. Very noticeable difference if you pour a glass and leave it for an hour.

Probably no heavy metals at all 🙂 Your local water authority should have and provide information. But you can estimate something from the geographical position.

It sounds yummy to be honest 🙂

Ours is wet and drinkable. Since we (Canadians) had the fiasco of the Walkerton "issue" they, the powers that be, have been very vigilant concerning our water supply.
