Can someone please tell me what a `pawnstar` is - or even `an original pawnstar`? Many thanks

Not quite true. In the early days there was no concept in fact of 'life membership'. Becoming a pawnstar allowed the user to contribute towards the running of the site, the removal of ads and a star beside one's username. Only when the introduction of yearly membership was implemented did the concept of life membership exist for 'original pawnstars'.

Really I think you are probably correct. I guess I was using membership in the sense of what it means to be a member today. So although the benefits of membership have changed, to obtain the star for life did only require a one off payment and the benefits, albeit different to those of today, therefore I'spose did constitute a type of membership 🙂
