Did anyone see District 9? My wife does not like sci fi movies in general but loved this one, how long before the sequel do you think?
District 9 is very good. It's completely different from other sci fi movies I've seen, but very entertaining, and the whole aliens in a refugee camp were very well made.

I hope Peter Jackson wont make a second one. It wouldn't really make sense for me, and would be just for the money. Neill Blomkamp (director and co-writer) says there will be one according to wiki, so perhaps in two years time.

I've got a nomination for the 'biggest flop with the biggest stars in' award (anyone think of others?): Nine

Daniel Day Lewis, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, and the film just seems a waste of time. The songs are dull and I couldn't have cared less for the whiney-voiced fool that DDL played.

The Hours, excellent, one of the best films I've seen in ages.

Well it could be a great perspective if the alien met with trouble during his flight away from Earth, and most of the movie about that, then triumphantly making it back to Earth and turning the hero back into a human and taking all his kin back home, of course giving us the technology of the space ships🙂

Maybe the first part. I'm not the happy Hollywood ending kind of guy.

Broken Embraces starring Penelope Cruz in Spanish with English subtitles if that matters.

A mystery that quite frankly went a bit over my head.

Cruz goes topless so that is a plus. Well done but the mystery mystified me. But Penelope...my oh my.

Idiocracy. Amusing and frightening at the same time.

The Piano, wanted to see it for ages
The Cincinnati kid - also wanted to see it for ages
Gator - Burt Reynolds, stereotypical redneck movie, crime corruption and a sense of decency among the vice, awesomeness, didn't have to think about this movie, my level.

now i am going to watch The Lady From Shanghai, as recommended by a friend, any other older movies or classics that you might like to recommend, please feel free - regards robbie

I saw Sherlock Holmes. It was ok, but a tad too 21st century for me. The best thing from that was a horrible sound problem that lasted for 3 or so minutes so I got a free pass for another show.

The Big Sleep, was awesome. i like these older movies, despite the lack of technical innovations or gimmickry camera work, they somehow make up for it with characters and stories!
