The male leapord should help the female pare down her family by eating the infirm, and rewarding the strong cubs by not eating them. This is the circle of life.

If anyone besides myself watches The Animal channel they know the answer... The male leaves to hunt food and expects the female to guard the young.

HOWEVER, it's just the opposite with the African Lion! The male stays at home while the female hunts!
