I don't want to commit to a topic for this thread so that I can distance myself from it later should it end up failing. On the other hand, we could hijack this thread by suggesting thread topics that were bound to fail which would mean the thread's failure could later be framed as a success.

You could hijack a train at the station, but chances are it's not going anywhere.
