My main guitar teacher, Backwards Sam Firk, knew this tune inside and out and taught it to me. RIP.

BTW, I just found this recording of the Reverand playing Cocaine all around my brain:

Also found this Sam Chapman recording, late in his career, was part of the Mississippi sheiks. I met him at the San Diego folk festival in 1976, same year this was recorded.

Here is an interview with him:

'wish you were here,' Floyd's mid 70's album, it just reminds me of certain people past...still have the original vinyl version, I can find flaws in the last 'remastering' of it..namely 'unintentional fading' when one instrument is supposed to 'delicately' take over from another..there is now too much abruptness, is this the 'wonder of digital' and just how much of this remastered music is 'faithful'...please, keep it 🙁 Anyone else noticed anomalies with modern remastering ?? Dean.

Originally posted by robbie carrobielol, you may well be right sir, may well be right...of course I see benefits in digital, in that any crappy player will produce a decent, 'fit for all', sound...the very best analogue amps are beyond reproach but AT A PRICE. My Quad ( valves ) system I bought for a song, relatively..the seller inherited it and complained it had no remote control 😛

Originally posted by RevRSleekerTERRIBLE! No remote? Gads, how primitive! Sigh. I built my own valve (tube) amp, a class A job, no crossover distortion, sounds great. I have a buddy who built the same kind but rated around 200 watts, a LOT of tubes, he built his own chassis even. Looked great, sounded spectacular, he had Klipshorn (sp?) theater bass speakers that took up an impressive volume of his living room. If you had to buy such a system, it could easily tie up 25,000 bucks. The only odd thing about the one I built (used 6146's), when it first turned on, it made a big thump sound in the speakers, never figured what did that, but after that, SWEET.

Originally posted by sonhouseVery nice indeed...did the 'thump' sound eminate soley from the speakers ? Certainly an oscillation of some kind, no doubt you got it checked even if it appeared to have settled. Turning on a self build valve amp for the first time is unnerving at best lol.
