@mike69 saidIt has lots of mojo, but can be scary on the German Autobahn with speed differentials--people passing me at 120+ mph, whoooosh and the steering gets wonky.
Nice, I like those. I know what you’re talking about, especially if it’s raining or fog with a lot of traffic coming at you with those brighter lights it’s blinding.
@moonbus saidI bet, it’s defiantly not made for speed. That sounds like the perfect place for me to drive, I can’t stand going slow. The speed limit here is 75mph, I remember when it was 55 that was horrible.

@mike69 saidSome years ago, my best buddy from high school days came over to Europe for a visit. We hired a 911 Porsche Targa and went blasting up and down the Autobahn, from Hamburg to Basel. I know some stretches with little traffic and no speed limit (there are many stretches with speed limits, but some have a *minimum* speed in the left lane of 80 kph & Truck-Verbot). We took that Porsch' to the redline in top gear. (Don't try this in your back yard!)

The German Autobahn is the eighth wonder of the world, IMO. An engineering achievement unparalleled anywhere. Safe, fast, well-maintained, with clean and frequent rest stops (restaurants, charging stations for e-vehicles, showers for truckers), and I can sleep in my VW van there overnight on long journeys.
@moonbus saidThat’s really impressive, I had no idea it went as far as it does also. The fastest in Texas we have is 80 and 85 which is more like a 100 mph plus in those areas. The fastest I’ve driven was almost 150 in a corvette my son had and put a lot into. It had a lot more in it, I had to make myself let off plus I didn’t want to hurt it😁. He has a truck now that he built with a blower putting out almost a 1000 horsepower to the wheels he won’t let me drive. Probably for the best.

@mike69 saidI wouldn't feel safe, knowing there were a 1000 horses under my right foot. At my age, I'm happy to putt-putt along in the old VW. It's an ex-fire department tender, red all over, still has the emblems on the doors. People stop and stare and wave as I go by. I had to take the blue light off the roof though--not legal, for a private owner any more.

@fornichessate
Things start getting more real after 140, I would imagine that would be a new level.
@moonbus saidI like it when there is history behind something, making it more unique. Your story reminds me of my grandpa. He had an old car he would drive around in and also the town parade with his little dog. People always knew him and waved and him back, it gave him a lot of joy.

It isn’t safe, it’s like riding a bull and trying to hang on.
@Kewpie saidKewpie mayonnaise.
Kewpie is a type of doll manufactured in the 1920s, still around when I was a small child. I'm a left-brained introvert with a common surname and wanted my username to be easily found in lists. At that time Kewpie mayonnaise wasn't known in Australia so it's irrelevant. So I'm an elderly female, that's all it says about me.
Wow.

@Great-Big-Stees saidDid you know that 'steezy' is trending in teenspeak?
Great Big Stees was a name given me by a niece, when she was about 4-5, who had a cousin Steve (little Stees) another uncle Big Stees and me, being the elder statesman GBS.

@mike69 saidEveryone loves a parade ! It is great to see old vehicles still running and displayed for all to appreciate.

I live in a rural area. Once a year, the farmers have a parade--of their old-timer tractors. Some are pre-War and still plowing fields or hauling hay wagons!
@moonbus saidHuh. I always thought that had to do with "2001".
I drive a '63 split-screen VW van, and the headlights are very dim (compared to modern cars' LED lights)--I drive as if by moonlight.
I'll also say that a few years ago it was amusing to see some cars on the road with (modern) Westworldish light treatments, and now it seems some of the car makers are getting even more creative with the LED headlights.

Hmm. From a time before AI even existed. Maybe Steed and Mrs Peel should investigate. 😉
