NoScript for Firefox pre-emptively blocks malicious scripts and allows JavaScript, Java and other potentially dangerous content only from sites you trust.

^^^^ Worth its weight in gold if you ask me.

The option to disable javascript on a per-site basis has been an option in the settings of almost ever browser since the first versions were released.
