Originally posted by eddie andersit was about a year ago that the "wings" system came in. before that you could donate about £20 (i forget exactly how much) to the site and you'd become a permanent pawn star. but this didn't bring in enough money asthey were only one-off payments. and thus the annual ones...i think there's some advantages of wings, but i'm not sure...😛
whats an original pawn star
Originally posted by eddie andersI'd like to add that the origional pawn stars didn't get anything for it. that said, despite the fact that they paid more than $15 for their first start, many have subscribed too. And as Russ said, maybe after having had their origional status for a year some more will think it time to give again.
Originally posted by belgianfreakOriginal Pawn Star really received all aviable on the site in that time, the differce was that for non-suscriber all those things were free. They made like a contribution to the site and also received a Rival Chess program, remember? 🙂, It is an advantage to be original we don't have to pay (at least yet), but it is important to remember we should continue helping the site, means if we can make an effort lets pay that $15.00 .

Originally posted by latex bishopYou are partially corect, Latex Bishop. I am an original pawn star, and before I paid the additional 15.00, all I had was a star. After I paid the additional subscription, I had a star with wings and the litle "shield" that used to be present. Now, all I have is the star with the wings...just like everybody else...it's hard to discern who is an original PS unless one visits the member's profile page. Cheers
with wings = subscribing member - the new system
without wings = orginal pawn star - the old system

Jimmy Stewart and Matt Damon... Jimmy retired as a genuine "general" in the US Airforce. Matt has no real wings. One star with wings, the other without.🙂

"captain kangaroo" for the younger generation was a guy on CBS tv every afternoon who... along with Mr. Greenjeans ... entertained children on 'Live TV' ... Live tv was his downfall... in 1964 he saw the red light go off after his 'sign off' and assummed he was off the air. he then proceeded to say "That should hold the little bastards until tomorrow!"... He was still live... only onto camera 3... end of his career. He was a hero at Iwo... He, as a medic,,, waded into machine gun fire ... twice ... retrieved 3 live marines and 2 dead marines.... He cried in the only interview he ever gave about it.

Aside... Red Skelton, on his live tv show in that same year... 1964... was telling the following joke... and had a freudian slip. His show was taken off the air for a year ... then returned until 1966... this is the joke he blew... big time...
"And another thing... you don't see many Volkswagons on Lovers Lane... i guess they are so small you have to get out to --ck her."...
He meant to say... " i guess they are so small you have to get out to pucker."
ahem... i saw that... they cut to "local commercials" for the next 5 minutes then went to the old "test screen" which people today have no idea of... Picture a black and white pie... with gradients of grey fading to the middle of the screen... Guess you had to be there.

That dude talked a language that I admire as in "I ain't much, but I am for killing bad guys."
