Originally posted by TEXASmadeIf you mean RHP rating, it took me about half a year. I was 35 when I reached it (a bit over a year ago).
For those of you that are 1500 and above players, how long did it take you to reach that point from when you first started playing chess on a regular basis...also how old were you when you did this?

Originally posted by TEXASmadeIf you put some work into it (I went through the Chess Academy of Chessmaster 10, which didn't take that much time, but was immensely helpful), take time to make your moves and use the analyse board and maybe an opening database, I'd say 1500 is pretty easy to reach here.
I was wondering because im just under that at p1491 with 19 games and i've only been playing for bout 9 months so i was seeing if that was the normal...

I am really an 1800+ player in disguise. I just play too many games.

Originally posted by TEXASmadeChessmaster is mainly a program in which you can play against virtual players, but it also has some tutorials, puzzles etc. The tutorial I was talking about teaches you basic tactics and strategy. The lessons also contain exercises. If you have already played for 9 months and are doing pretty well here, you probably know a lot of it already, but it's probably still worth it. When I went through it, I had just started playing, and parts of it were too difficult at that point, so I came back to it later.
thanks, ill look into that. do those programs like that help or do you just play a really hard computer player. ive never really thought bout getting one...
