Beliefs you once held yourself?
Yes. I used to believe in things like everlasting life and miracles and I now view them as delusions.

For how many years do you consider yourself as being delusional?

I held religious beliefs that I now perceive to have been delusions for 25 years.

@ghost-of-a-duke said
Might want to update your phraseology.
I don't think I do.

No, you really do.

Why were you susceptible to these delusions for so long?

No. It's fine.

Probably because I was indoctrinated with religious beliefs when I was young in a way that resulted in them extending well into adult life, supported by the fact that, until my faith weakened and then finally was lost altogether, I felt I derived significant benefits from holding those beliefs.

@Ghost-of-a-Duke
Are you running out of questions to ask me about my former religious beliefs?

I'm making pizza.

Even in the every day sense, a 'delusion' is a 'false belief or judgment about external reality, held despite incontrovertible evidence to the contrary.'

For 25 years, what was the 'incontrovertible evidence to the contrary' that you were ignoring?

My perspective now as an atheist looking back at my religious beliefs is that they were delusions. We only have our subjective opinions when we weigh mankind's speculations about supernatural beings and phenomena.
