A cold bath or a hot shower?

That depends on your actual criteria for "environmentally friendly". The use and contamination of water versus the energy.

The conundrum is implicit in the question.

So for regions, where water is not the problem (most of Great Britain, germany,...) bathing will be preferable.

For context, I have been reading up on the Wim Hoff method. Already started daily cold showers, I have my own meditation practices in place for 10 years now (more with breaks). Driving to the beach every day when the time comes would be ideal, but inconvenient with a job and family. Cold baths are being considered for the future.

I went to occasionally a Turkish Baths in Cheshire in my thirties. Cold & Hot treatments have been enjoyed for thousands of years.

I prefer a hot shower and absolve myself by texting SAVE to 1234 for just £3 quid a month.

I'm planning on changing from warm to cold showers for the month of November as a test. Been doing it this week, but i want to see if there are any positives in sustained use. After that i'll consider the cold bath, then maybe ice bath...but that's a long way away.

Maybe i'm going a bit covid crazy, but we'll see 🙂

No worries my friend.

Funny side bar. A friend in my Tai Chi group warned against it, saying "Tai Chi is a taoist practice and Taoism is all about finding balance, so nothing is to be done in excess"...Pretty sure cold showers were the norm in China circa the inception of Daoism, and it's balance...with nature. A pretty important omission. Excess is constant room temperature, comfort, and meat/sugar in every meal.

Saw quite a few videos of Wim, he's a bit eccentric. But i guess you have to be to be an outlier.

wim hof seems to be aware of a thing that most humans are not aware of
in other words, using a part of his brain to control his body that heretofore has not been accessed by regular ole humans
that said
i have seen video of zen monks in tibet? who did fairly much an identical thing where they were put in subzero rooms, draped with soaked sheets and were able to (and this is the part where my brain doesn't seem to remember correctly) maintain body temperature
from the ebook it seems that wim hof does NOT maintain body temperature
but uses that change to enhance his immune response

must study this more
