Another new name because you used up the old one with stupid comments?

How did you get Russ to put up your previous name as "- Private -"?

Russ, what is the point of putting up someone's old name when they change it if you're just gonna keep it secret? I say if they ruin their forum reputation here, then they can just live with it. Life has no "do overs".

So, forum readers, what do you use? I am curious what the forum regulars prefer.

* I use DC myself.
Excuse me, but why have the same site under two different names?

Still upset I won our game?

Next time it's rated.
LOL@ Kombinations,
Do you actually think I would be upset over a mean nothing game or games? After 19 years do you think you are the first person to beat me? I have played players much better than yourself and they have beat me on many occasions but I continue to play them. One learns much more from losing a game than winning one. Ask anyone who knows a little bit about chess. 🙂

Perhaps have a little courage and keep the same name for more than a few days!!! 😛

Maybe next time I will play you better than I did last time where we got down to a Pawn ending. 😉

@Plater

Because RedHotPawn.com, even after nearly 25 years, is still a ridiculous name for a chess site, so an alternative is available if preferred.

With respect, Sir...

Focus on dailychess.com

It took quite awhile for daily chess Google searches to put you at the top and it's been back and forth with chess dot com for the top spot when people type "daily chess" into Google.
(Serious credit to me for the thousands of searches I did)

Also, Gameknot is dying and almost dead.
Enthusiast Gaming bought ...[text shortened]... ace because she thought I said porn.

dailychess.com

Much safer and just plain better sounding.
I have been casually tracking the GameKnot situation.

Clearly the sale didn't work out well for the site itself, although I'm sure the previous owner is not too distressed about that now - I seem to remember some serious money changed hands at the time.

I'd love to offer an "on ramp" to any players wanting a new home - so if you are very familiar with any features any player's would want to help a transition to RHP/DC then please post to the site ideas forum so it can be discussed there.

Regarding the RHP vs. DC name, DailyChess.com exists for this reason, to offer an alternative. As I said at the start of this thread, DC is my preference, but RHP has been around nearly a quarter of as century now so the name has quite a strong internet presence because of its uniqueness.

Any possible change (and it is possible) would be proceeded by a consultation with everyone here who helps fund RHP.*
