Richard Whiteley, host of countdown has died aged 61

I feel we should have an honourary game of Countdown in remembrance.

Starrman see the countdown thread.

A very sad day. Wucky proposed Rag as replacement, a notion that I would like to second.

You could have at least spelled his name right.

Maybe we should remember him here.
I remember an episode where he said "And now over to Carol, wearing a nice black dress to match her teeth".

Or the time when he wore a countdown tie, but the letter "o" was covered by his microphone!

Perhaps Bowmann could post a suitably irreverant anagram of 'Richard Whiteley died yesterday. He will be sorely missed.'

to quote rags post in the countdown thread..i thought it was funny:

The legend that is Richard 'Twice Nightly' Whiteley lives on...

Let us pun...
'What did they find in Napoleon's coffin?
The bony part.' Richard Whiteley, 1943 - 2005

We're leaving together
But still it's farewell
And maybe we'll come back
To earth, who can tell?

I guess there is no one to blame
We're leaving ground
Will things ever be the same again?
It's the final countdown...

We're heading for
Venus and still we stand tall
Cause maybe they've seen us and welcome us all
With so many light years to go and things to be found

I'm sure that we'll all miss her so
It's the final countdown...
The final countdown...
It's the final countdown.

I can't help but feel you went for the easy option there. But commendable nonetheless.

Oddly enough, I was listening to this only yesterday.
Maybe I should put that in the "what are you listening to thread".
It was the Laibach version though 🙂
