No, I was not the first to join the site. I was the 16th member. My first game here was game number 18, and I played against someone named Paul, who was member number 7.

We originally had totally free membership, followed by voluntary contributions to help upgrade the hardware as membership grew. By the time the site went to the subscription system, there were probably close to 2,000 members.
