In a fight between Superman & the Increadable Hulk??
no, sorry... the real question has been prompted by someone
claiming they would beat someone, even if they cheated, regardless
of any program they used. So I though, "but Karpov (sp?) could only
win 50% against Deep Fritz, so what makes you think you could do
better". But then again, Karpov was OTB... this is correspondance. If
Karpov could have gone away, relaxed, had a cup of Russian tea and
checked out a few books would he have won more/all? I guess what
I'm also asking is, can computer programs beat humans because they
can out think us, or because they can store more data on openings,
past games etc...
Thanks to anyone who answers,
Jon
The obvious answer is that the computers of today (who knows about
tomorrow?) can never out-think we humans because they don't
actually 'think' at all. So it's got to be the huge amounts of data
storage and ability to play many alternatives through on 'virtual
chessboards' that helps them out.
