copyrighting technical 'inventions' that essentially follow from the fundamental laws of nature (or they wouldn't work)... seems an awful lot like the 'discovery' of america, china, australia etc. - and while running around desperately trying to keep their 'secrets' under a lock & key, they also manage to hinder progress on all areas of science.
