What are your motives for posting in a public forum?

What image of yourself are you trying to portray to other people?

I'm merely asking out of curiosity. 🙂

I usually come to the forums to burn time or to find out the lastest news on the never ending gay love triangles that are quite amusing.

The image I try to portray is somewhat of a quandry. I try to sound intelligent whenever possible, but never fail to pass up an opprotunity to call myself stupid. The overall feedback I get is that I come accross as a helmeted indevidual anyway, though, so any efforts I make to show smarts is often is often a pointless waste of mine and everyone elses time.

I'm mostly here to correct people who rape the English language on a daily basis. Actually, I'm lying.

Concentrate and ask again.

I think you just helped the case that I was making against myself.

Well, I am glad that you are honest for the most part for the reason you visit the forums - or so I think.

You probably shouldn't call yourself stupid as often, as that is clearly not the case. 🙂

However, self-deprecating humor often works well in many social situations. 🙂

Cover stories are often much more fun than the truth. I really do come here to burn time when I'm bored though, as I have yet to take the next technological gaming step, the Game Cube.

I suppose I wouldn't be labled as 'stupid' but I can't spell worth a poo.

Its the best humor to use when meeting new people. Not sure why.

Only on this chess site would probably be more correct. 😉

I don't care if I am correct. 😛

I'm just imagining people hunched over a computer screen, writing out long narratives of epic proportions; people writing stories of such quality, I'm sure stories that everybody is dying to read ...and so for what purpose to people use hours of time posting to people that, for all they know, may not exist?

I could be Yuga-animated 1.0 robo-poster for all you know! (Well, anybody else, except you.) 😛

Why do we spend time on the forums? To read great posts written by our friends, to share, laugh, enjoy, and cavort merrily with each other. To goad and argue in good company and conduct. To frolick amongst the fluctuating waves of our ever dwindling creativity of youth as it slowly slips away towards our ever impending death. This is why we post and why we keep coming back. It's fun, at all different levels. And it's much better than working.

Well written. It's a whole lot better than working...that's why I'm here. 🙂 I knew forums were all about pouring out our wild side, holding hands and singing love songs. 😉

I must admit that these forums are among the best I've seen.

Or put more simply, a global lack of ambition.

Or maybe one's ambition is to be a respected poster at RHP?

Accumulate recs, etc? 🙄😉

(Idealistically, I hope hopscotch is correct, although I am not sure if there is a correct answer...)
