I would say they smell quite different, depending on the different types of food throughout the world. Sound might vary depending on chubbiness of one's posterior. I would say the Japanese will make higher pitched ones.

I've heard, that the chubbiness of the average American's posterior works as a pre-warning mechanism.....particularly useful at ball games 😛
