For me it’s primarily the user interface; which has an independent designer feel about it. I find other site’s user interfaces to be generic, impersonal and too clinical. Also I find it reassuring that the owner Russ is continually working on this website even though he must have other projects.
I suppose the only downside of this is that development is slow; but that dynamic is possibly why the site feels like it does.

@a-unique-nickname saidYou are the most skilled lurker here Trev.
Because Dive is here, obviously.
And the free biscuits.
@divegeester saidYou seem to overly promote RHP when you've made a few risqué posts and are perhaps a little fearful the mods might have marked your card.
Your thoughts?
Those are my thoughts.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidThe “send feedback” function is there for non subscribers and is a useful addition for those with restricted options.

@divegeester saidRHP is a good site, but which is best is a matter of personal choice. IMHO Tempo and ICCF (where I play now) are at least as good, since they focus more on the game and less on forum socializing.

@divegeester saidI claim so to gain brownie points with Russ.

Okay: to be earnest: I like the site (as you can see that I am a subscriber for many years) very much.
I don't know it the site is "best", it is so good that I don't look for other sites (and I have some more sccounts, when I have invited by the one or other person for a game).

@gambrel saidI don't think RHP is the best chess site on the Net, but it certainly has its strengths and is a decent place to play chess. Improvements would include a greater focus on developing playing ability and an overhaul of teams/clans and tournaments.
I disagree with the thread title. What RHP does have is personalities, active forums and social friendliness.

@divegeester saidIt's the only one I know because, broadly speaking, playing chess makes me uncomfortable.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidI have no interest in doing so. I just make chess moves so I can chat in private.
Not a slur on your rating, as chess is fun at every level, but I do think you are (have been) missing an opportunity to develop your game.
