This is embarrassing, 'cos I'm supposed to be an I.T. tech.......
I have a problem with my slave drive on my home PC - basically I accidently wiped all the data on it (whilst dual-booting), and have had to repartition and format it.
It now appears blue in Windows Explorer, and I have trouble writing to the disk in XP (particulary when ripping CD's)
Can anyone explain what this means, and how I can get rid of it?
I've looked in the Microsoft Knowledge base, and it's unknowledgable!!!
Ta muchlys!

I suggest you format the thing again, if it still does the same, bin it.
The problem is a bit bizarre - I've been able to install programmes etc on the drive, create folders, move My Docs to it etc etc. But for some reason, I can't get access to it to save any documents etc.
Hence, I don't really want to format it again, because I've only just loaded up all the programmes again!
Originally posted by FavsThe drive name appears blue because windows has compressed it. Try right click on the drive, click properties, deselect compress this drive to save disk space. If that doesn't work, format.

Will try it when I get home tonight and hopefully that will sort it out!
Many thanks hopscotch, and to all!
