Assuming that I am not the only one here to drink wine regularly, I would like to know what are your favourite wines. I mean, don't give me a classification of the best (or most expensive) wines you know, but what would be some of the better ones that you personally tasted recently?

To start, here are (a small selection of) some good ones from around the globe that I consumed during the last few years:

Talana Hill, 2000, Stellenbosh, South Africa
Cabernet 2001, Penfolds, Australia,
Zinfandel Pedroncelli 1995, Sonoma, California, USA
Tignanello 1998, Antinori, Toscane, Italy
Brauneberg Juffer 1996, Mosel, Germany

deliberately omitting the obvious French wines that still constitute the majority of the wines we drink here in Belgium (just finished a Meursault at lunchtime).

Do you drink wine mostly with or outside the meal?

Sure. I have a Colosorbo 1996 in my cellar. But I didn't drink one recently. It is great, but a little heavy.

The best Cabernet wines are still from the Medoc, France, in my opinion. But to come back on Italy, there are superb wines, and not all very expensive.

I love a dry white wine. I like to drink it at dinner, and sometimes on the couch in front of the fire. Only trouble is, it makes me very relaxed and very......relaxed πŸ˜€ So I need to have my love around πŸ˜€
I love champagne, and one of my very favorites is Korbel Natural from California.

The good thing about champagne (and its equivalents from other regions) is that it not only helps to relax (and ... relax) but also to digest. No hangovers, although I am not sure about the .... here ;-)

While only a wine "technically", I'm a huge fan of sake. Particularly Chi Ko Bi and Gekkeikan brands.

For red wine, I am a big fan of Bulls Blood. I believe it's from Hungary. Very dry, good bite, spicy boquet.

For white wine, I love Napa Ridge chardonnay. I know, it's a little par for the course, but it has a good balance and excellent pallet.

Red Bull ... you mean Egri Bikaver. Served typically with mixed grill.

Many Napa Chardonnay's have a little too much vanilla (from the oak barrels). Just like most South American Chardonnays (but some of them are superb) do.

I remeber having wines from the Acacia vineyards in Napa Valley. They were very good.

Buckfast Brown Tonic wine πŸ˜‰

is that actually a wine btw?

EDIT: i don't acutally drink it, i just find it hilarious the number of 15 year old neds who drink it so they look cool. apparently it gets you drunk faster than a half bottle of vodka.

i think it also screws up their brain cells πŸ™‚

Yes. Especially the Marina Chardonnay is outstanding.
