A chinese expression:

I hear and forget,
I see and remember,
I do and understand.

That is like playing chess.
If somebody tells you about a chess game, you will forget it,
If you are watching a chess game, you will remember some of it,
But if you play yourself, you will understand why you should not have done that move 😛

Do you know some kind of wisdom? than post it here ... . I really like that stuff!

Don't spit into the wind.

When the crap hits the fan, it does not get distributed evenly.

Three pieces of practical wisdom:

1. Don't stick your tongue on to a frosty metal object (e.g. a lamp post) in the winter.

2. After you've sticked your tongue tongue on to a frosty metal object (e.g. a lamp post) in the winter, and get stuck, don't try to rip yourself loose by force if you're not alone. Have someone fetch warm water and use it to melt your way loose.

3. After you've ripped your tongue out by force from the frosty metal object, and it hurts like you're tongue was just stripped of a layer of skin (which it was), the only thing that will help is drinking milk.

And before you ask, yes, this was all learned from experience. Though in my defense, I must say that I was something like 5 at the time.

Those who can, learn.
Those who can't learn, teach.
Those who can't teach, administrate.
(and those who have been caught saying things like the last line by their administrators are seeking employment).

it wasn't a button. i don't think so anyway, but i have forgotton what it was.
may be a coin. or a bean?
what use would monks have for a button anyway? it's not like they make a habit of wearing them.

It is better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak up and remove any doubt.
