junk going on I thought I would try and avert everybody's eyes for a
sec and tell a humorous story.
Last night I was trying to grill some hamburgers and hot dogs when a
small incident got me away from the grill which I had just started...so
when I get back the fire had gone out...so me...trying to get these
things cooked quick lifted up the grates and started soaking down the
coals with lighter fluid again....and out of nowhere POOF!
Pretty bad when an Eagle Scout ends up with 1st degree burns on his
face and arms as well as having his eylashes completely fused
together...eyebrows don't look too healthy either.
But it made me think of another story that you all might find funny.
When I was about 5 I had a huge fascination with fire...and one day
me and my cousin are up playing in our Grandmother's barn. This
barn had been up forever and was almost falling down. Well one of
the family had just gotten a new refridgerator and the box was sitting
in there...so we fill the thing full of hay and i light it...and it is going
real good (Subnote...told this story a few years ago and was
asked "Dave...that was a cardboard box...did you think it was going to
CONTAIN the fire?"...Of course I replied..hell i was 5!)
But back to the story..this thing starting just blazing..and then my
cousin hit the box with a baseball bat...which sent it flipping into the
wall...which was half ripped up and had cardboard or something in
between the wood...needless to say it caught instantly!
I yelled at him "Why did you do that?"
To which he replied "It was getting too BIG!"
And to which I said.."Well it's gonna get real BIG NOW!!!!"
So we went running down the hill to get some water...we found a
gallon ice cream bucket..filled it and raced back up the hill..at this
point the barn was blazing...and Brad (my cousin) looked at the
water...then at the barn...and screamed "it's not enough!" and just
threw it in the air.
We went back down the hill and prayed to God for rain....he wasn't
listening that day and the thing burnt flat.
Just thought I would share that with you all.

My friend Kenny and I accidentally started a small forest fire when we
were younger (we were setting fire to plastic model airplanes, that
should give you an idea of how old we were)-- a dead pine tree caught
fire, the wind spread the fire to the next tree, and we went running to
the nearest house to call the fire department-- and the firefighters
thanked us for acting so quickly, they said we saved acres of forest by
our fast action. God, I miss those days....
Like I said, no need to thank me. I do what I can for the people I
think deserve my energy. If you want my opinion, you're a role model
on this board. How many other people offer chess lessons to people
without asking for money? You could hold a convention of them, and
it could be held in my tiny little apartment.

You two almost have me in tears...thank you very much.
I try hard to help out and make this place alot of fun....as for me
teaching...I try hard in that too...as I never formally had a
teacher...and if I had I would have been alot better than I am now
and done it alot quicker...it is amazing how quickly you can learn if
someone justs helps out a little...rather than trying to walk through
the dark forest all by yourself.
Thanks again guys....I appreciate it alot

WHOOOOOOOOOO Dave! YAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
WHOOOOOOOOOOOO! Sorry, but you knew it was coming! I always
chime in on these sentimental moments with a hardy
WHOOOOOOOO! Dave is helping me out with my game but
ritualistically beating the silly crap out of me! Works pretty good
though! This game I got a lessen in overworked pawns and how a NM
can make a fool out of a 1400 player real quick-like! Hehe, fun fun! I
was looking at the move Qd3 and was sitting there like, "Why would
you do something like that? Doesn't seem to do too much......" A
couple moves later he sent me crying back to my room to study more
tactics!

I think they're lining up to burn her house down. For those of you on
the other side of the ocean, this enormous fire was started by a forest
service worker as she got pissed off at her ex who sent her a letter.
She decided to burn the letter.....along with countless homes and
thousands of square miles of forest.
