Internet connection dropped off yesterday afternoon after 5.
I tried checking if we hit our bandwidth cap (yes, I know, yadda yadda. Here in the 3rd world we have Internet caps...), but the site wouldn't load. I packed up and left, hoping it was just a temporary sync drop, as the router showed connection still up.

This morning, all 3 PCs still couldn't connect. Phone support said cap was reached. I setup my home account, but still nothing - phone support lady stumped with me after a few trial and error runs.
I reset the modem and and setup ADSL settings and get 2 other PCs online no problem, but mine couldn't get online. I could access the LAN, but no Internets...

A Windows update ran when I switched off, so I roll back. No luck.

Checked router settings, all fine.
Tried switching ethernet ports, same problem.
Checked my cable with laptop, no problem. *
Bugger around with the DNS settings, including OpenDNS, still no luck.
Slight panic. SpybotS&D, MalwareBytes, Quick AV scan, HiJack This. No problems and no luck. Even ran CCLeaner just for @#$%^& and giggles... No luck.
In desperation I remove my NIC from Device manager and restart. Hey, Presto!

WTF?

* Realise that I should have done this first.

Did you try turning the computer off, then on again?
