PayPal login data have been hacked and offered for sale on the web. If you are a PayPal user, change your password. Banks are already seeing massive illegitimate transfers and taking steps to block as many as possible.

The long and short of it is that PayPal's servers were not directly hacked; the hack was indirect, via malware planted on other systems which then harvested user data (including PayPal logins).

it was required that you had to have a paypal account
you had to have a positive account balance, even if all you wanted to do was get paid
at the time this seemed reasonable, and in 2006 i was moving towards paperless and cashless anyways
it just made sense to me
but paypal was staffed by incompetence
the more i used that institution the more i became miffed/angry/enraged at the level of idiots running the show
long about 2008 i canceled my account, closed it as well as i could considering how inefficient they were, and told them to send all my remaining funds to my local bank
they still owe me twenty dollars usa
they still send me random email with "updates to our terms of service"
i hope they all die in a fire
