work this one out

i was messing about looking at flight prices, a single from belfast to newark connecting in london costs £333, so then i wondered how much the direct flight from london was...you would think it would be cheaper, right? nope - £456 incredible.

it would be cheaper to get an easy jet flight to belfast and then connect in london to get to newark rather than going direct from london.

It's always cheaper for the airline to book you on multiple flights, it pays there employees.
