Probably not the first time of asking, but can either England or Italy win the World Cup this summer?

I'd say they both can, or rather, not both of them but either of them.

But it has to be Brazil, what with Ronaldinho, Cafu, Mancini, Ronaldo, Serginho and Nike playing for them.

But Brazil's defence?

Maybe. But as Greece and dare I say Liverpool proved, you don't always have to be the 'best' to win, only the 'best' on the day, and that can change .

Germany is disastrous but more disastrous for the business will be not to have them in the final four, so I'm expecting a lot of support from the men in black 😠

This time Holland and England are my calls for the semifinals together with Italy and Spain/Germany. It is time Spain demonstrates something... they are always good in paper but to no avail at the field. Sometimes the men in black, some others the crude reality of being the best league in the world mainly due to the foreign players.

And I will be happy if Mexico meets the US again and this time we get some payback for how lucky they got at the 2002 World Cup. 😛

Just because it's time for Spain to show something doesn't mean they will. I think the hot winds of the Iberian Peninsula cool the passions of the players to achieve all they're capable of. You can't include Spain and exclude Brazil, man, you'll turn the whole world upside down.
hehe, good point about Brazil but really I see it hard to achieve the miracle of Sweden. I think Europe will prevail in Europe and I concur with the lousy defense argument. I feel somehow this world cup will be full of goals (hope so, I still remember the bad aftertaste of the world cup in Italy), and Brazil will score but also receive a lot of it.

As for Spain, I mean their time because of the shape of Fernando Torres, who is increasing his gameplay in Atlético de Madrid and, jeez, you cannot forget the deadly striker couple with Reyes [this year I would sit Raúl in the bench]... plus, goalkeeping for Spain is simply world class.

I remember the time Iran beat the USA, maybe 8 years ago??? There must have been quite some party in Teheran that night.

If England don't win it, I'd like to see one of the underachievers, spain or holland, win it. I think they both have the potential to do so, especially Holland.

True, but Spain's big challenge will be to get past phase 1. They have a terrible habit of forgetting to do so in these major tournaments.

My mini early prediction for the top 3 places in the world cup is...

1 Italy
2 Brazil
3 Argentina

No, it doesn't have to be Brazil. Brazil's the only country (Sweden, 1958) to win the World Cup outside its own hemisphere. I think they're a lock for the last four, but after that - I think it's likely you'll see three European teams fill out the semifinals. Italy should be one, you should never count out a host as strong as Germany, and that last s ...[text shortened]... opening round. Then again, who foresaw the US upset Portugal, or Senegal defeat France?
You're a joke. USA should have been there...HAHA

Ha ha ha ha... no, silly one. The dutch will not be making it that far. Really, a very bad team. Endstation: group stage.
