for now, you are provisional and the rating will act strange... but it is better than when I started! I had to climb to get a 1300 rating.
P-
Hmmm you've played 30 plus.... this is strange.
Your provisional rating is an average of your opponent's ratings (with +400 if you win, -400 if you lose).
So, If your opponent is rated more than 400 points below you, your rating will go down (because the avergae goes down) even if you win.
In contrast, if you lose to someone more than 400 points higher than you, your rating will go up. 😵

But hey... anyone with a rating of over 1500 wanna play me? 😀

I don't have an explaination for you. Are you sure your rating went down? Did you complete two games very close to each other where your rating went up for one and down for the other and made it appear that your rating went down from winning?
That's the only other senario that would make it appear that your rating went down from a loss.

You can lose points by playing a p1200 player.
Say the player has lost 2 games. One to a 700 player and one to a 900 player. If you are a 1100 player, even if you beat him you will lose points due to his previous bad performance.
I don't think that's accurate. Your rating cannot go down from winning after 20 games are completed.
For instance, If I were to win a game, my rating would go up regardless of my opponents rating. Doesn't matter if it is 900 or 2100, my rating will still go up (just mot as much)
and quit looking at my avatar like that! 😛
Ok Angie,
Here it is: Your rating was 1025, you then lost game 832395 to freddie2005 dropping your rating to 1012. You immediately won game 788364 against michi93 which brought your rating back up to 1024.
So, you didn't lose points for winning or lose points becuase of a provisional. You simply lost points for a loss then gained points for a win immediately following each other.
