Help me. What is a good starter for christmas dinner? Something traditional please......and getting kicked out every hotel in town, is not an option.

I'm to make traditional christmas dinner, and haven't got a clue what to make as a starter.....do you even make a starter?

This may help. I only scanned it briefly and didn't find a mention of starters. But if you follow some of the links (or take a 'wikipedia tour', as I like to call it), you may find some ideas.

Christmas Chili

Cut green Bell peppers to resemble Christmas Trees.

Cut hot red chili peppers (http://www.danish-schnapps-recipes.com/images/chili-plant-with-red-hot-chili-peppers-200.jpg) into small rings and tell everyone it's mistletoe.

(These should be sautéed first together to keep their shape, and placed on top of the chili when ready to serve. The red chili peppers should make the green bell peppers a bit more spicy.)

When the guests arrive you can always greet them with mulled cider. The easy way is to use your microwave and flavor it with cinnamon "Red Hots". I like using the coffee percolator. Put in your 10 cups of apple cider, fill the basket with about a dozen cloves, half a cinnamon stick, and about 5 peppercorns. It whets their appetites as soon as they enter the door with that pungent odor. Anybody in the group willing to help out in the kitchen? That is a boon for any host/hostess!

Nah, just give'er from the word "go". I believe the traditional dinner includes turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberries, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. If they complain that there was no starter after a meal of that magnitude, smack 'em with the Yule log.
