Now I know you clever lot will be able to help me here, as you always do! I want to access my yahoo mail account via outlook express 6.0, once I have that working maybe via thunderbird. Did a search on yahoo and followed instructions there for OE 5.0 but no joy.

Please point out where I am being stupid😀

I mean in relation to this question only!

My understanding is that you can't transfer yahoo mail unless you have the pay version, not the free version. I tried that. Now I have gmail from google, and I can send that to Outlook Express.

Reader is right. You can't do it with Yahoo unless you have the Premium Service.

If you get any free e-mail addresses from your ISP, use them instead.

Thunderbird can retrieve mail using the POP3 protocol*. My Yahoo account allows this - it is free but you have to agree to receive advertising mails. Works for me and I don't get any more ads than usual. Famous last words.....

* I'm aware that this is a tautology.

You are right, by using "yahoo delivers" I have been able to set it up through OE. How much extra spam I get we shall see! Thanks to you all anyhow.
