Yes, very much deserved but I think after her losing out last year she was a shoe-in for this year.

Bravo! Great topic for a thread on this forum and/or a post on Facebook.

How many girls in predominantly Muslim societies today might be dreaming
of becoming someone like Maryam Mirzakhani, an Iranian woman?
In 2014 she became the first woman ever to win a Fields Medal in mathematics.

Ironically Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzai got into a fistfight. Both refusing to share the prize. 😕

Here is an example of just why Malala won:

Here she is on the Jon Stewart's Daily show:

On one hand, I thought that the Nobel Prize committee should wait until Malala
had grown up and achieved more before giving this award to her (at age 17).
On the other hand, given the death threats against her, I thought that it
may be better that she be able to enjoy this award while she's still alive.

Some people might misinterpret this award as an anti-Muslim gesture.
Yet Malala Yousafzai's a Muslim. And if she were to appear in traditional
dress and go unrecognised as a celebrity, then she might well experience
some of the ignorant stereotypical anti-Muslim bigotry in Western societies.

There is certainly enough bigotry to go around. I just hope Malala LIVES to see even better works. I hope there is not now a clarion call to kill her from all the monsters out there in the extreme islamic groups.

I believe that Malala's safer now than Salman Rushdie was when the
Iranian fatwa was in effect against him.
