When I hit my wife, I cover her face and body with a wet towel.

No bruises, no social worker. No social worker, no judge.
No wife.

Communication is so important.

I went badly wrong when my wife said she wanted decking on the patio.

"Älska mig mest,
när jag förtjänar
det minst,
då behöver jag det
bäst."

Love me most
when I deserve it least
then I need it best.

Another recipe: Give all, expect all

Wonderful Swedish Proverb, Lillemor. Thank you. Here are two more you may like and/or wish to translate:

“If I had a rose for every time I thought of you, I'd be picking roses for a lifetime.” / “Fear less, hope more; Eat less, chew more; Whine less, breathe more; Talk less, say more; Love more, and all good things will be yours” -Swedish Proverbs

"Om jag fick en ros för varje gång jag tänker på dej, skulle jag plocka rosor i evighet." The English version is better.

"Räds mindre, hoppas mer; ät mindre, tugga mer; gnäll mindre, andas mer; prata mindre, säg mer; hata mindre, älska mer; och alla goda saker är dina."

If we are in wisdom for marriages I can quote one we got when we married:

To marry for beauty is like buying a garden for the rose bloom. Indeed the later is even wiser, since roses keep blooming every year.

The two of you are obviously serious about honoring your marriage contract and invested in making it durable.

Marriage is like a deck of cards. In the beginning all you need is two hearts and a diamond. By the end, you wish you had a club and a spade.
