You can also search Google for free animated gifs.

That's how I found my "Old Man" avatar.

They drive me potty as well...

Since we are in the help, you can switch of animated avatars by hitting "esc" just for once or by setting the browser settings

Love to know the answer to that..actually you're right, just checked by hitting 'esc'...that's with chrome mind you.

ESCAPE stops them in MSIE (v6sp2 ), at least until the page changes. Firefox it works with too 🙂
