Analyzing game by game history board.

Hello!
I have got used the game history board analyzing my game situations. And I have done it for 4 years. But now it looks impossible to do it- if I move some piece forward it comes back to the same place... Of course I can use also the analyzing board for this purpose, but I still wanna know, is it the game history board restricted for it or...
