Buddy List doesn't function anymore

I tried to add someone to my Buddy List but wasn't successful: I got this message: Sorry, you have too many people in your buddy list already. Try removing some
I did that, still the same message.
Now my Buddy List is empty and still I get this message!
Can this be fixed please?

it works for me

I will investigate as soon as I can. (I apologise to all if there are delays at the moment as my life is getting increasingly hectic, I am getting married next month and the amount of effort required in my day job has escalated all of a sudden. It should all settle soon. )
