chess instruction

Is there a way to search the chess forum for threads with (chess)instructional content? That is,other than reading them all like I've been doing so far.

I don't think so. The "Only Chess" forum is the place to start looking. Check the thread title to help narrow your search, but you still have to wade through it.

I just joined this site and I can see the board but i can't move the pieces and don't see instructions on how to do so. Could someone one help me get started thanks-T

When it is your turn to move, click on the piece you wish to move and then click on the square you wish to move it to.
