I thought I had an en passant move, where I placed a Bishop on the middle square of a pawn's move 2 squares forward, but it wasn't recognised. Please explain?

A bishop? I think you might be confused about en passant. A pawn can only be taken by another pawn en passant on the move immediately following the two square move.

You might want to re-read the rules of en passant.

    Thanks Bowmann,

It can be a painful learning experience sometimes. At least I won't do that again.
