It's now my turn to make the move and I suddenly cannot move my chess pieces. The mouseover reacts when it comes over the chess piece, but I can't drag it.

Help? Anyone?

Yikes, it sounds as if you have issues on your PC. Can I recommend Linux/Firefox over Windows/IE. See the Linux thread in the general forum.
