Is there a way, at all, to have a word in quotes -- or even a percent symbol -- inside parentheses without it being converted to a bloody emoticon?

(Because the problem arises in parenthetical "quotations"😉

(The percentage of times I encounter this in a post of mine is about 15😵

Yes, a period will fix things, when it can be applied properly like in my examples above, but most times a period is inappropriate.

Oh, the minutiae of modern living...

Yeah, that's what I do, but it looks like crap to me. Always has.

Nowadays "emojis" are copy/pasted in directly, or you can just click on a limited selection available under the Post button. No need for text emojis. Just get rid of text emojis altogether, I say, so we can all use punctuation properly.
