Meaning of wings on stars?

The FAQ gives the legend for star color based on number of moves. However, it doesn't say what the accompanying wings mean. Some users have stars with wings; others have stars without wings. I haven't seen any wings without stars, though. I couldn't find a pattern in the player tables.

So what do the wings mean? Thanks.

The one without wings bought life membership back when it was available. Winged stars are regular yearly memberships.
