i want to buy a membership and i was wondering if there was any way to mail the payment in? i don't want to do it if i can't mail it

Why not? You write it like you don't like internet transactions, while in fact it is a lot safer than snail mail.

I think the stars change colour as you make more moves - eventually they start rotating!
You can create a clan from the clan page (Create A Clan option).
