How many messages are allowed to build up in a nonsubscriber's inbox?

I try to never have more than a couple and wondered if there's a limit I can have in there before I can't receive anymore.

i think its about 20-30 but you can delete messages you don't need anymore.

I just looked and I've got 35 old ones.
Also, I think I read somewhere that after a certain length of time the oldest ones are deleted automatically.

Yes, in the 'Legend' below 'My Inbox' you will see two notes ; 'Unread message about to be purged' and 'Read message about to be purged ' which operate after one month.
