please could someone explain why people accept your invite but do not move, and don,t appear to be active.

Because people take their time. Just be patient.

yes, but sometimes people don't start the game for hours, i just don't understand why you would accept an open invite if you have no intention of playing for ages. I know people don't want to rush moves once the game has begun.

Either delete the game or PM them and shout at them.

Thats what I normally do.
