Peoples ratings

Ok, how on earth do i work out who to challenge to a game, if I want someone on my level?? Do I just choose someone with a similar number?? How does the rating work? I've looked around the menus to see if it explains it anywhere but can't find anything

oh my apologies, decided to look at FAQ, and its explained there, (although i still can't work it out, too complicated for me!!) can i delete this thread now???
