Profile image black at bottom.

When you uploaded your image, did you check to make sure it meets the size specified?

Here's what it is supposed to be, as shown on the settings page for profile and avatar images:
"Your profile image must be under 4096 Kb. Images larger than 100x150 pixels will be scaled automatically."

<EDIT> You may need to use a photo editing program to work it over so it has the right dimensions. That's what I had to do with my profile picture.
